Justin Gardner, M.A. is a doctoral candidate in clinical psychology at Midwestern University, Glendale having completed his master's of arts (M.A.) in 2018. He has extensive experience with the assessment and treatment of a variety of pediatric mental health concerns. Justin has worked as a psychometrician for many adult and pediatric neuropsychologists throughout the Phoenix valley. He plans on graduating with his doctorate degree in order to pursue post-doctoral training in pediatric neuropsychology. Mr. Gardner aims to one day become a pediatric neuropsychologist.
Mr. Gardner's clinical interest is in pediatric neurodevelopment, including: Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Communication Disorders, giftedness, Intellectual Disability, Learning Disorders, and Motor Disorders. He has previously worked as a habilitation and respite care provider for children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder, a volunteer providing group therapy at adolescent community centers, and as a tutor for children and adults in the areas of advanced mathematics, physics and writing.
"I love psychology. I love technology. Why not put them together?"
During his undergraduate studies at Arizona State University, Justin studied aerospace engineering in the hopes of becoming an astrophysicist, but eventually became fascinated with human neurodevelopment and found his passion in clinical psychology. He graduated with his bachelor's of science (B.S.) in psychology from ASU in 2016. Having a dual understanding of both psychology and the hard-sciences such as engineering, computer programming, and mathematics Justin applies a unique and novel approach to his research in neuropsychology. He has presented research at many national and international conferences. His research entitled, "Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Algorithms for Informing the Diagnostic Process of Mild Cognitive Impairment and Dementia," won the Best-In-Class award at the local Kenneth A. Suarez Research Conference in 2019, and the Best Abstract award at the 2019 conference of The International Neuropsychological Society (INS) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He has been invited to present his research on the utility of AI for diagnosing neuropsychological disorders at the 2019 conference of the National Academy of Neuropsychology (NAN). He continues to work on his dissertation on the use of AI for diagnosing Autism.
Justin Gardner has a passion for assessing, diagnosing and (most importantly) treating children with mental health needs. He aims to provide his patients with the highest quality of care.
